Tamerlan has a whole series of splashing beverages -coffee, tea, milk -, which I thought was really interesting, and I really like the look/tonal qualities this image has. Very retro-like. :)

Glass Research

Here are a couple examples of some Glass pictures I liked:

I like this picture, mainly because of the idea. The set-up seems interesting and somewhat difficult to pull off and the photographer did a pretty good job with it.
If I would have to guess the type of set-up he used, I would think it's something similar to what we did with two skinny light on the side, to make the edges defined with light and reflection.
And then the light we see "inside the glass" would be some small light that someonoe would move around, creating swirls...

Luckily, under the picture was a short explanation on how it was done:

"A completely different lighting setup, with a sing light underlighting the glass. Most of the light exposure comes from the other light, which you can see in the photograph.    
The key is that the glass is lit from underneith with a strobe, on a MINIMAL power. The light was swang behind the glass, so as not to flair up inside the glass (Tried both). To get the swing in the glass took erm... a few attempts."

I really like this picture, because it has very bold colours, and the reflections in the glass are really great. I also like how the photographer decided that the 'liquid" in the glass would be slanted, giving the picture another strong geometrical line, which also complements the two colourful diagonal lines going in the opposite direction.

As for the set up, I think that since this picture has dark edges, maybe there's some kind of black card in the side, which can then be reflected in the glass, or a set up is used where the background is lit, defining the dark edges in the glass, similar as seen in this video, also allowing the colours to be reflected.

STUDIO W2011: Egg Project

A simple set up:

The next set up was actually done by Tristan and Hilary and I was able to find a couple of interesting shots in the after math of their explosive eggs.

I also thought it would be fun to make a GIF out of two images, just when the egg is falling and breaking.

Abstract Human Form

This is my favorite picture of the shoot, but I wanted to show it in colour and black and white, both the portrait style and the landscape style (I think that the landscape style makes it look more like mountains, but thought I'd just share both.)

Scanography Exploration with Emily
